Gardening Chores is seeking gardeners who can express their love for plants and gardening through engaging and informative writing.

We are Looking for subject matter experts able to write across a broad spectrum of gardening (ie. landscaping, plant culture, vegetables, Houseplants, herbs, trees, fruit, etc).

Gardening Chores is one of the fastest-growing online resources for gardening advice, and we’re all about breaking down expert info into easy-peasy language that everyone can understand.

We’re currently on a quest to find some new green thumbs to join our amazing team! If you’re a horticulturist, arborist, master gardener, enthusiastic home gardener, homesteader, or someone with a unique blend of book-smarts and dirt-under-the-nails know-how, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re looking for talented folks who can create outstanding growing guides, snap top-quality photos, and most importantly, help us share our passion for plants with our readers on a regular basis.

Experience

Experience-wise, our readers are thirsty for the latest info and there’s a whole lot to learn about plants. So, you’ll need to specialize in one or more areas, like:

  • Growing your own food: veggies, herbs, fruits
  • Writing about flowers, especially perennials or annuals
  • Caring for various houseplants
  • Tackling more technical topics like soil preservation, pesticides, plant problems
  • Sharing knowledge about choosing, planting, and pruning different types of shrubs and trees

We want writers who appreciate style that stands the test of time, blended with an interest and awareness of evolving fits and aesthetics. You need to embed personality into your work without letting it get in the way of the information, readability, or SEO best-practices.

A good piece for our site is one that is interesting, creative, informative, and easy to read. The backbone of SEO needs to be considered, with the appropriate format and structure in place.

We like writers who know their stuff AND jump off the page with personality and engagement. No stodgy, academic writing here. We’re people writing for people.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3+ years gardening experience
  • Self-Motivation – this is a remote position, and the ability to stay on schedule while working alone is essential
  • The ability to take decent photos of plants that you may be personally growing, or encounter is a plus.
